Hey friends,
After working in tech for 10+ years, it’s rare that a piece of tech genuinely makes my jaw drop.
The first time I tried Perplexity Comet, I felt that “wait..this is magic” moment just like I did the first time I used ChatGPT.
Perplexity Comet is a full browser with an intelligent sidebar that can see what’s on your screen, understand your context, and take action for you.
Think: your browser plus an AI assistant who can summarise, search, schedule, write, think, and even click for you.
I’ve had early access for weeks now, and I’ve been waiting to share this with you all for a LONG time.
It’s widely available for download right now PLUS you get a FREE month of Perplexity Pro if you click my link here.
Comet is one of my favourite AI agents right now.
It’s impressed me on both personal and work projects:
From travel planning to content strategy.
From newsletter insights to competitor research.
This newsletter is a part two of a three‑part series about Perplexity.
Today we’ll cover Perplexity Comet browser and everyday use cases. ICYMI, last week we covered Perplexity AI search.
Next week we’ll dive into more unique and advanced Perplexity AI workflows so stay tuned. Let’s get started.
🌐 What Is Perplexity Comet Exactly?
Perplexity Comet isn’t a Chrome extension.
It’s a full browser (it’s built off Google Chrome so feels exactly the same btw) with a built‑in, AI assistant.
Because the AI assistant runs inside your browser, it can interact with any website on your screen and ones you’re logged into.
Your Gmail, calendar, Instagram, Dropbox, or even an internal web app.
Here’s what makes it feel like a teammate rather than a tool:
- AI Assistant: Comet’s assistant is a “computer use AI agent” that sees the webpage you’re on and understands what’s on the screen
- Task automation: It can fill forms, navigate sites that require login, schedule meetings, and pull data without you clicking around
- Cross‑tab workflows: Open multiple tabs and @ mention them to ask Comet to compare or work with them (I'll have more on this next week)
Because everything happens inside the browser, there’s no copy‑paste drama.
You log in once and let Comet work with your existing accounts.
👍 4 Ways You Can Start Today (Prompts Included)
✅ 1. Clear Your Inbox
My inbox is full of thousands of unread emails. Now I ask Comet:
“Summarise my last five unread emails, with one clear takeaway and action items and suggest meeting times based on my calendar.”
Within seconds, it reads the threads, identifies action items, drafts responses and proposes times for any new meetings.
No tab switching, no copy‑paste.
This single workflow frees me from falling behind on my emails.
Pro tip: Ask Comet to “flag any emails that seem urgent” before summarising. It will prioritise your attention.
✅ 2. Analyse YouTube Videos in Seconds
Comet’s video understanding is impressive, especially on YouTube.
Let’s face it: you don’t want to watch those 45 minute explainer videos. I came across one where I was learning more about vibe coding.
So while on the video, I opened Comet’s assistant and asked:
“Summarise this video. Give me the 4 key takeaways, timestamp the best quote, and highlight any ideas I can use for my next newsletter.”
Literally within a few seconds, Comet reads the whole transcript and pulls all the most important parts from it.
I can now even ask Comet to find me more information across the internet about that very topic.
✅ 3. Multi‑Tab Research
When I’m products, services, deals etc I open several pages.
Pricing, features, reviews. Then I ask Comet:
“Scan all open tabs. Create a table with the tool name, price, pros, cons, and best use case. Link each row to its source.”
Comet reads every tab and returns a neat table in the sidebar.
It’s literally like having your own shopping/research assistant in your pocket
Pro tip: You can @ mention specific tabs for Comet to reference the info from there
✅ 4. Content Strategy & Social Insights
Planning my social media strategy involves reviewing the metrics from the last 30 days.
Instead of manually pulling insights, I open my Threads page logged in and ask Comet:
“Analyse my Threads insights. Pull five key trends from my Threads insights from the last 30 days and plan a content strategy from best performing posts.”
The assistant navigates to my insights page, reads the numbers and the content, extracts common themes and plans my strategy.
It doesn’t get better than an expert AI assistant helping with your own content.
Pro tip: Break it down into steps for a higher quality answer. First get the insights, then create the social media plan.
I’ll be covering more interesting and advanced use cases next week in the final episode about Perplexity. If you have any unique use cases you would like to share with the community, please feel free to reply. I would love to feature interesting use cases so we can all learn together.
🤔 Why This Matters for You
We spend our lives in browsers.
Comet turns that passive time into productive collaboration.
By offloading summarisation, research, email management and even draft strategy you get back hours to think, plan, and create.
It’s not just a search engine; it’s an AI agent that understands context and completes tasks.
For creators, it means faster content ideation and better research.
For operators, it means fewer administrative headaches.
For everyone, it means less cognitive load.
🔧 Quick Start (4 Steps)

- Talk to the Assistant: Click the Assistant button in the top right to open the side bar. Start exploring tasks like “summarize this video” or “check my inbox.”

🫡 Final Thoughts
AI isn’t just about asking questions anymore.
With Perplexity Comet, it’s about doing.
You’re delegating research, analysis, email, and even clicking through pages to a browser‑based agent.
It felt like magic the first time I watched it browse the internet on my behalf.
This is one of the first AI agents I've ever featured in the newsletter.. and we're JUST getting started. You're about to experience a whole new era of AI.
Next week we’ll continue our Perplexity deep dive with Comet advanced workflows.
For now, start small. Let Comet summarise your morning news, tidy your inbox, or produce a shopping list.
See how it frees up your mental space.
If this newsletter resonates, forward it to a friend who might spend too much time on the internet.
And hit reply with your favourite Comet workflow. I’d love to feature it next week!
To more magical browsing,
