Hey friends,
That first time Comet controlled my mouse, I remember saying out loud:
“This feels like magic.” ..and it still does.
After two episodes exploring Perplexity, including AI search and Comet’s basics and workflows, there’s still so much to share.
In this third and final episode about Perplexity, we’re going deeper into more advanced use cases for Comet’s built-in assistant.
Comet’s helped me on personal projects, workflow automation, travel planning and even shopping.
As I started using it for more like newsletter analytics and building my own AI agents, I realised there’s a whole new layer of magic here.
I’ve been waiting to share these use cases with you all ever since I started using Comet.
Usually each newsletter focuses on one practical AI tip you can use right away.
But today, you’re getting SIX in one.. because Comet keeps impressing me. Number 6 is super advanced, so feel free to skip or reply with questions.
I want you to feel that same excitement I feel, every time I’m working with Comet’s assistant on one of these use cases.
So let’s get into it!
Perplexity Comet is now widely available for download right now PLUS you get a FREE month of Perplexity Pro if you click my link here.
🚀 Quick Recap: What Makes Comet Different
Comet isn’t just another internet browser.
It’s AI-powered and built to see what you see, and do what you do.
It can log into your Gmail, Calendar, and other tools, while its sidebar assistant understands the context of every tab.
A few standout features:
- Virtual AI assistant: Carries out tasks and uses built-in tools to write code, content, process images, read files, and more
- Email & Calendar connectors: Sync Gmail and Calendar to schedule events or send emails on command
- Multi-tab queries: Use the
@tab feature to reference multiple open tabs for targeted answers
- Cursor takeover: Lets Comet click, drag, and fill forms for you
With that foundation, let’s dive into six workflows that go beyond basics and show you just how much Comet can do.
✨ 6 Advanced Workflows That Will Get You Ahead
✅ 1. Newsletter Insights
I obsess over how each newsletter performs. Instead of manually checking Kit and other dashboards, I open the analytics page of my newsletter broadcasts ask Comet:
“Provide insights on the key metrics from these pages: open rate, click rate, top articles and suggest three suggestions for improvement.”
Comet analyses the page and shares a concise summary with charts and bullet points. It even suggests actions like testing a new subject line or adding a poll.
Pro tip: If Comet misses something, add a message mid‑task: “Also include the reply to send rate”.
The assistant adapts mid way which is SUPER cool - again no other AI browser has this.
✅ 2. Shopping with Promo Codes (It Keeps Trying)
I needed a new work bag because my old one was on its last legs according to my wife.
So I opened up a few product pages on The Iconic, asked Comet to compare them by size, color, price and then said:
“Compare these products on @tab1, @tab 2, and @tab 3. Add the one that suits my needs the most to my cart and search for discount codes online. Try adding them until one works.”
Comet compared features, highlighted pros and cons, then automatically applied coupon codes at checkout it found online. It literally tried about 12 times and ended up saving me $25 🤯
Pro tip: Always review the final cart before clicking pay
✅ 3. Flight Genius
For an upcoming holiday, I wanted to see if Comet could beat my own research and find me a better deal.
“Find me the best deals from popular travel sites for Catherine bay Ha Long Bay cruises for 20 Dec to 22 Dec, for a Premium room
Comet pulled the data, built a comparison table, and even flagged a package with a hidden resort fee.
It would have saved me hours of toggling between multiple sites. Sometimes efficiency is more valuable, so I’m practicing to delegate to AI agents (I have so much to share on this exact topic, so stay tuned).
Pro tip: Add your preferences like “avoid red eyes flights” or “prefer premium economy” to refine the results.
✅ 4. Automating Data Entry (kind of)
I had an application form open in one tab and a PDF full of my details in another.
Normally, I’d copy and paste line by line..the kind of boring admin task that drains your energy.
So I asked Comet:
“Read the PDF in @Tab 2 and fill out the application form in @Tab 1 with the correct details. Take your time while prioritizing accuracy, and stop before submitting so I can approve”
It started scanning the PDF, figuring out which fields matched, what to click, what to type, and even how to handle drop-downs.
It’s not fast (yet), but it shows a glimpse of where browser agents are going.
While it worked on data entry, I got back to writing this newsletter for YOU! That’s the magic of an AI assistant built into your browser 😉
Pro tip: The more specific your instructions, the smoother it runs
✅ 5. Property Research (Fast)
I’ve been looking to buy a place and wanted quick insights on a few suburbs — things like price trends, commute time, safety and nearby amenities.
Normally that kind of research takes hours.
So I asked Comet:
“Research these suburbs — [insert names]. Compare average property prices, crime rates, transport links, and lifestyle highlights. Create a Google Doc with a summary report.”
It did it in minutes — a full, detailed report neatly saved to my Google Docs which I shared directly with my wife.
That’s the beauty of an AI-powered browser: it doesn’t just find information, it actually does high level tasks for you like reports, slides, docs etc.
The kind of depth that would’ve taken me a whole night, was completely handled while I moved on to something else.
Pro tip: Be clear about what to compare and how to structure it for a sharper report
✅ 6. Build an AI Agent in OpenAI’s Agent Builder (Super Advanced)
OpenAI’s new Agent Builder doesn’t have a natural-language interface yet.
So I put Comet to work.
While I focused on something else, I asked:
“Create a new agent workflow that writes Threads in my voice after researching topics online.”
Comet built the agent nodes, selected the models and reasoning level and even crafted strong agent core instructions.
I was absolutely taken aback because I didn’t expect it to succeed even after a solid 15 minutes.
I stepped in once to fix a small issue it was looping on, but then handed control back over.
Minutes later, I had a finished working prototype!
It wasn’t perfect, but a simple agent that actually writes like me for my first attempt; that’s a win.
This one is for people who are already working with and building AI agents. So I don't expect you to get this use case straight away - but don't worry I will share more on agent building in the future!
Pro tip: Give Comet a clear goal, let it run, and step in only when needed.
🫡 Final Thoughts
We’ve covered a lot.
These six workflows alone could have been six separate newsletters, but I couldn’t wait to share them.
Comet isn’t perfect, it sometimes stalls or needs guidance.
But that’s what makes it exciting.
AI browsers are about to take over, so don’t miss out on getting ahead. They are changing how we all interact with the internet, one workflow at a time.
You’re co‑piloting with an AI agent that learns from you.
Try these workflows and let me know how they go.
If you find a new trick, reply and tell me. I might feature it in a future episode.
